Fitness and Conditioning 2013/2014

Goals:
1.      Increase student fitness levels both physically and mentally
2.      Increase student awareness towards activity outside the school environment/student accountability
3.      Increase student understanding of the FITT principal

Action Plan:
           
Foundation of Fitness and Conditioning
·         Warm up and cool down
·         Personal fitness goal setting
·         Water/nutrition
·         Student development Portfolio- pictures/video/daily work out diary
·         Athlete Package – water bottle, Fit Con T-shirt, ?Heart rate monitor?, diary
·         Guest speaker on mental health / psychology – David Leggy, Iver Day
           
Lifelong fitness-Activity outside the classroom-field trips and guest speakers
·         Every 2 months students will be encouraged to participate in a field trip or a guest speaker/expert will be brought into the school to lead a workout or speak about training and health
·         Students will be introduced to the local fitness centers
·         Program development/goal setting
·         Mentorship

Science of fitness/Internal Health
·         FITT principal
·         Introduction to heart rate monitors- establish a deep understanding of personal HR
o   Intensity training

o   Max HR/Recovery HR
·         VO2 Max
·         Guest speakers
